Sushma Swaraj- India’s best-Loved Politician

June 2017, suddenly I came through a news about gulf crisis. As an Indian woman staying in Qatar, I got stressed about the news. And I started following our Indian Foreign Minister. After going through some twits of her, I come to the conclusion that absolutely! We can rely on our external affair ministry as it went above and beyond to restore our faith in the bureaucracy and gives the satisfaction that we are safe in Foreign Counties.

A foreign minister of India, She wanted to become an army officer as the best NCC candidate but her journey has started with a title of the youngest Member of the Legislative Assembly, 5th Chief Minister of Delhi, Union Minister I&B & Telecommunications, Union Health Minister to foreign minister in 2014 till date. Yes! We are talking about India’s best-loved politician and country’s second women foreign Minister Mrs. Sushma Swaraj, Who choose her own way of working.

Foreign minister Sushma Swaraj and her team are using Twitter with truly extend the scope of their reach to every individual. Even dealing with major international crises she is sorting out the problems of many individuals online, without any fuss or fanfare. Everyone with query making a rush on her twitter timeline and she makes use of Twitter to help Indians across the world is no secret. Even Opposition AAP’s Bhagwant Maan took a note and saying “I want to thank Sushma Swaraj ji. She is doing an exceptionally good job to save our people abroad,” referring to how Swaraj rescued 13 members of his constituency who had been imprisoned in Saudi Arabia.

She is using a twitter as a medium for citizens and NRIs to call for assistance with 10.9 million followers put herself in top 10 politicians globally. Her quick response to every individual tweet is the only reason she becomes India’s best-loved politician. Her majority tweets are for all asking for help. She always gives the special attention to the migrants or diaspora in the Persian Gulf, blue-collar workers who slog under stressful, often cruel conditions.

In spite of tensions between India and Pakistan, there is a good number of Pakistanis who directly tweet on her timeline. They often happenstance problems by getting permission to leave Pakistan, or visas to enter India in any of valid reason. From reuniting families to helping citizens recover their passport and travel home safe, every request for help, whether small or big, her work gets the minister’s attention. And in this spirit of accountability, check out what she has been able to achieve in the last few months. With significant work on Twitter, Swaraj’s presence online is also a good example of how citizens and the government can directly connect with each other.
Here are some few examples of her connection with people.
